New York Mills is a tiny town in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. The population is less than 2,000 people, but the town has a few interesting features: it lies in close proximity to hundreds of lakes, it’s on the Continental Divide and it has a very interesting bed and breakfast that you will definitely want to visit. The main house is over 100 years old. It was built in 1903 and has only had three owners.

But the real draw is the Whistle Stop’s collection of meticulously restored train cars.
The Viking Car is a bright yellow beauty that once served as a restaurant in Deerwood.
The Palace Car was built in 1909 and was used through the ‘60s by the Northern Pacific Railroad.

The Imperial Car has an interesting history. It was built in 1903 and served on the North Coast Limited. It was later used as a deer shack and even as a family home.
Living up to its name, the Cozy Caboose is both the smallest and the oldest car available. Built in 1893, it is decked out in everything you need for a cozy weekend away.
