Although you may not be able to go on safari in Minnesota - not exactly, anyway - you can get a similar feel by spending the night in the state's great North Woods, among towering pines, under the Milky Way and the aurora, lulled by the calling of loons. You may not see Africa's "big five" animals, but you may just get to see four of the Bold North's own species of charismatic megafauna: moose, gray wolf, black bear, and Canada lynx - all of which can be found in the Ely area, where the Eagle Yurt at Wilderness Wind is located.
The Eagle Yurt is located on Armstrong Lake, at Wilderness Wind, just southwest of Ely.
It's tucked into the woods, surrounded by forest and the sounds of nature.
Upon entering the yurt, you'll experience the sensation of glamping, as you might on a safari.
The well-appointed yurt boasts two bedrooms and a sleeping loft, as well as a kitchen and common area.
It easily accommodates up to six people.
It's lakeside location is perfect for swimming, relaxing, or enjoying a crackling bonfire under the stars in the evening.
Be sure to take advantage of the provided canoes or kayaks to explore the lake and its shore.
