When it comes to finding North Shore accommodations, it can be difficult to find an affordable price. Expensive hotels and resorts dominate the area, with less expensive options filling up fast. Even Airbnbs can be quite pricey, especially during busier times.
But what if we told you there’s a much more affordable way to spend a few nights up north? Camping is an often overlooked way to travel to the North Shore. But there are plenty of great campgrounds that offer comfortable sites packed with amenities. One of our favorites is Indian Point Campground. Read on below to learn more about this spot.
Indian Point Campground is a beautiful campground in Duluth, Minnesota. It’s tucked away along the St. Louis River, just 7 miles from busy Canal Park.
The campground has 76 sites. They are a mixture of both tent and camper sites. There are electric, water and electric, and full hookup sites available, as well as plenty of no-frills tent sites.
Each site is spacious, with a picnic table and fire ring free for guests to use.
The sites surround a central area that houses a lovely gazebo and a spacious restroom and shower area that all guests are welcome to use.
There is a lot to do at Indian Point. The Western Waterfront Trail circles the campground, making for excellent hiking that people - and pets - of all ages will love.
The trails through the maple, elm, and pine forest are very beautiful. You’ll even catch glimpses of the St. Louis River, which surrounds the campground on three sides. Feel free to bring your bike!
There are also two docks in easy access from all campsites. The fishing dock lets guests cast a line into the St. Louis River.
And the canoe dock allows guests to launch canoes and kayaks! This is a great campground for those looking for hassle-free outdoor adventure.
Other amenities at Indian Point include free WiFi, campfire wood for sale, laundry facilities, and an on-site store where you can purchase camping necessities.
All in all, Indian Point is a hidden gem in Duluth. If you’re looking for a place to have an affordable North Shore getaway, this is the spot!
