One of the things I love most about writing with Only In Your State is the thrill of sharing a hidden gem that already made my jaw hit the floor. The first time I saw this Airbnb called The Bear Cub, I thought it was something out of a commercial. Then I realized it actually was. GMC used it as part of the background for their 2024 Arcadia Denali photo shoot.
There’s no cooler place to stay than this cozy A-frame built deep in the woods near Elmira, Michigan, only an hour northeast of Traverse City. You’ll be completely surrounded by nature and ways to enjoy it no matter the season. I’m sure by the time you’re done reading this you’ll be just as excited to share this listing with your friends as I am with you.
It will be hard to find a place more suited for an outdoor adventure than The Bear Cub. The owner provides kayaks and plenty of yard games.
There are also several nearby trails perfect for four-wheeling in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.
This is the ideal place to snuggle up and watch the snowflakes fall. Not only does the A-frame design make this living space quite spacious, but the owner also added a 100-inch theatre system that uses the tall windows as a backdrop.
It comes with a fully functioning kitchen area if you want to make some comfort food while cuddling up for a feature film.
There are two bedrooms, with the first one located right past the kitchen. Both are queens with a contemporary cabin design.
You’ll find the second bedroom by heading up the spiral staircase. This is definitely where I want to bunk up.
Both bedrooms have a bathroom located near them that comes with a shower. A nice hot shower is the perfect way to quickly warm up after a snowmobiling session.
While this is a great place to explore in the summer, the winter is a magical time. Just look at this view looking outside the house.
There’s even a 90-jet jacuzzi for ultimate relaxation.
Take in even more incredible views by driving only 20 minutes away to Skybridge Michigan. As long as you’re not afraid of heights, this is something you can’t miss out on.
This is the world’s largest timber tower suspension bridge. It provides stunning views all year round.
Picturing a stay at The Bear Cub is like imagining an overnight retreat at a scene from a holiday catalog. The funny part is, that this rental actually lives up to that claim. With equally stunning views at nearby attractions like Skybridge Michigan, there are more than enough ways to explore the nature of Northern Michigan.
You can expect rates to run in the low $200 range per night. The space is best enjoyed with groups capped at four to five people. However, it’s reasonable to expect you to want to share this hidden gem with even more friends. There was an excellent selection of spring/summer 2024 availability when the calendar turned over to the new year. Head to The Bear Cub booking page to find the dates that best work for you.
