A fantastic vacation doesn't always need to be about visiting popular sites and tourist destinations. An exceptional hotel or unique Airbnb can also be the focal point of a fabulous trip. Throughout my years of traveling, I've vacationed in some pretty spectacular places, including an authentic caboose and an ocean-themed suite in New Hampshire. I treasure the memories that my family has made at these unusual places. In Massachusetts, we have some equally exceptional rentals that are fantastic destinations for a weekend getaway or a longer trip. I've put these unique Massachusetts Airbnbs on my vacation bucket list and can't wait to visit them ASAP.
1. Wings Neck Lighthouse - Pocasset
A stay at Wings Neck Lighthouse on Cape Cod is truly an extraordinary experience! Surround yourself with spectacular 360-degree views as you sleep, dine, and relax just feet from the Atlantic. Historic Wings Neck was once owned by the U.S. Coast Guard and now serves as a premium rental. The attached lighthouse keeper’s home has three bedrooms and sleeps up to eight guests. The house is filled with modern updates, yet still retains its historic charm. Guests love exploring the rocky coastline, lounging on the beach, and climbing the spiral staircase to take in the views from the top of the lighthouse.
2. Mid-Century Glass Octagon - Otis
If you prefer an Airbnb with woodland views, I highly recommend a stay at the Mid-Century Glass Octagon
" target="_blank">Berkshires. This architectural gem in the town of Otis features floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over seven acres of peaceful woodlands. The home has a beautiful deck area, a wood-burning fireplace, and a fully-stocked kitchen. 3. Colorful and Stylish Cottage - Oak Bluffs
If you have vacationed on Martha’s Vineyard, you are probably familiar with the historic gingerbread houses in Oak Bluffs. These whimsical homes were once part of a Methodist religious camp and now serve as an iconic symbol of the island. Did you know that you can rent one of these enchanting homes? The Colorful + Stylish Cottage
dates back to 1871 and is a mix of modern living and cozy Vineyard charm. This exceptional home, which accommodates six guests, has been featured in several design books and magazines and is considered a top-rated island vacation rental. The idyllic location is close to stores, restaurants, and beaches.
4. Gingerbread House Tower - Tyringham
A completely different, but just as special gingerbread house rental is located in the tiny town of Tyringham. A stay at this “guest favorite” Airbnb is a magical experience. The quirky Gingerbread House Tower is partially situated on the gorgeous Santarella Estate, giving way to scenic views and peaceful vibes. The inside space is filled with beautiful plants, and the outside area has a pond, garden, and stone bridges.
