Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. Today, the state park is situated in Caroline County, marked by hardwood pines and bordered by the Choptank River and Watts Creek. Whether you're an angler looking for that next great catch, a hiker seeking peace in the woods, or a camping enthusiast seeking a night under the stars, you'll find there's no shortage of things to love at this local Maryland park.

Martinak State Park is located on Deep Shore Road in Denton, Maryland, and it's open between 8:00 a.m. and sunset each day. It's the perfect family destination, too, as there is a nature center and a playground. Most areas of the park are pet-friendly, too. Throughout the year, the park hosts some fun and kid-friendly events, such as a Junior Rangers and Park Pals program.

Martinak State Park is a lovely place to hike, and the most popular trail is fittingly known as the Martinak Trail. It's an easy 1.2-mile loop that takes about thirty minutes or so to complete. Despite being a popular trail, it's easy to enjoy some peaceful solitude here. This trail will take you right by the campsite.

Camping at Martinak State Park is a great idea for those who wish to extend their stay. There are 63 sites available for either tent or trailer camping, and 30 of these have electric hook-ups. You'll find that each site features a camping pad, fire ring, and picnic table. There's also a modern bathhouse. Reservations are highly encouraged, so be sure to book online or call 1-888-432-2267 ahead of your visit.

Campsites are wooded and peaceful, offering the perfect place to set up for a night under the stars. You'll find this campground to be the perfect home base for all of your state park adventures, which might include a canoe trip!
Canoes and kayaks can be rented for $15/hour between May and October. Boating offers an unforgettable perspective of the park's natural terrain and awe-inspiring wildlife. In fact, it's estimated that there are over 155 species of birds within the park, ranging from shorebirds to rafters, waterfowl, waterbirds, and waders.
