Summer is one of the most popular times for camping in Maryland. There is one spot in particular that is not only scenic, but will give you an experience that you'll never forget. Assateague State Park is Maryland's only oceanfront park and this camping spot is so unique, that as soon as you leave, you'll already be planning your next trip.
Located in Berlin, Assateague State Park has 350 campsites to choose from and they're all pretty amazing.
Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, so be sure to bring supplies for s'mores.
And since there is no light pollution along the beach, this is the perfect place to stargaze.
Awake the next morning and you'll be treated to views like this...
Or like this.
The island's curious wild ponies have been known to invade campsites, not that we're complaining.
To see these glorious creatures up close is a unique experience.
Spend your days lying on the beach or splashing in the Atlantic Ocean...
Hiking the nature trails around the park...
Or kayak in the calming waters on the bayside.
And the best part? Watching the sunrise over the ocean is absolutely breathtaking.
Watching the sunset here isn't too shabby either.
It's amazing how this one place is packed with so many sights, activities, and terrain.
