Sandy Pines Camgpround in Kennebunkport will host the first annual Great Maine Camp Out Sept 22nd to the 23rd and it's shaping up to be a must-attend fall event!
The campground is located in a secluded beach forest, and it's bordered by a salt marsh making for gorgeous ocean views in addition to their onsite amenities.
Sandy Pines Campground is located at 277 Mills Rd. in Kennebunkport. You can give them a call on (207) 967-2483. The campground is a little more expensive than some, but you can't bean the location and the amenities. And, this special weekend features discounted prices. On the 22nd, nightly rates start at $50 for tent sites; $59 for RV sites; $99 for Hideaway Huts; and $159 for Camp Carriages. If you book two nights, you'll get the third night free by using the code FALL when staying in a new Camp Carriage, Hideaway Hut or camping in an RV or tent.
Availability for the weekend of the event is still open and you can book here. If you can't stay overnight, stop by for the day! Attending the event is free, but the Burger Bash is $5 per person.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Bullfrog Adventures runs a variety of different river-related trips, from tubing to kayaking. And the best part? You can camp right here making it the perfect Maine summer getaway.
While they offer a few different tubing options, we love the self-guided trip that will take you floating down the beautiful Kennebec River at your own pace.
Your tubing in Maine adventure starts with a quick van trip to the put-in point in The Forks, where you’ll have access to eight wonderful miles of river as you head down toward the Appalachian Trail crossing in Caratunk.
You’ll feel like an intrepid explorer as you watch the trees pass by, but with a shallow depth and only occasional class 1 rapids, this trip is decidedly casual.
The route takes between 2.5 and 3 hours, depending on the flow of the river, but we’ve found that it’s most fun with some breaks along the way at the banks of the water.
These breaks are even more fun when you consider that you can also rent a cooler full of ice to bring your own snacks and beverages to enjoy on the Kennebec River.
