When the weather is perfect for spending time outdoors, it's time to set off on a camping adventure. Grab your tent and some bug spray, because Lake Bruin State Park is an ideal spot for camping and one of the best state parks to visit in Louisiana. Let’s check it out!
There are few state parks more beautiful than Lake Bruin State Park.
Located in St. Joseph in Tensas Parish, Lake Bruin State Park was originally established in 1928 as a fish hatchery. Clocking in at a mere 53 acres, it's the smallest state park in Louisiana.
Nestled along the beautiful Lake Bruin, visitors to this tiny, but mighty, park will absolutely love the 3,000-acre lake.
Fishing is one of the main attractions of the lake. There are three fishing piers to cast a line from, as well as a boat launch for those looking to take to deeper waters of the lake. Largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill fish are always biting, so drop a line in and maybe you’ll catch yourself dinner.
During the day, bring your canoe or kayak and explore the park from an entirely new perspective. There are also flat-bottom boats available for rent that include two paddles and three life jackets.
The park features both RV and tent camping. There's nothing like sleeping under the stars, so bring your tent and enjoy the fresh air!
If roughing it isn’t your idea of a peaceful weekend, don’t worry! The park also has a few cabins available for rent, so you can still enjoy the perks of the park while also enjoying A/C and a comfortable bed.
The sunsets on the lake are some of the most beautiful in the state, so be sure to find a spot on the dock to enjoy them from.
And after the sun sets, fire up your campfire and enjoy an evening of storytelling and s’mores. Every camping adventure needs s’mores!
