It sounds like someone forgot a few letters in the word yogurt, but in fact, it refers to a specific style of tents used traditionally by those in central Asia. However, did you know that we have yurts right here in Kansas? This yurt village in a Kansas state park might sound odd, but we think it's one of the coolest camping experiences you'll find.

On top of that, the entire area is simply stunning! You won't believe how beautiful every day here can be.
Not only do they have a lake for any of your water-based adventures, they also have quite a bit of hiking trails to explore.

This is a yurt. It's a circular tent that's a lot sturdier than your average pack-and-go style.
Traditionally, they were made with felt or animal skins and wood or bamboo. They've been around central Asia for 3,000 years, but most people in the U.S. have probably never heard of one before.
Inside, you'll find modern comforts such as a bed, table, and couch for you to use during your stay at the park.
Doesn't this look cozy? It's very similar to traditional camping in a tent, except you have more space for a real bed and much more wind resistance.
Eisenhower State Park is the only one we know of to rent out yurts at this time, but we hope to see more alternative camping in the future!
