Iowa's charming Lake Darling State was dedicated in 1950, and it's named after the famed Iowan cartoonist Ding Darling.
The lake itself spans 302 acres, and there are more than 18 miles of shoreline to walk and explore.
Many Iowans head to Lake Darling for a relaxing day on the water, for a sunset stroll, or to enjoy a camping getaway.
While there are plenty of drive-in and tent camping sites, one of the best ways to enjoy camping at Lake Darling is by renting a waterfront cottage.
Lake Darling offers primitive camping cabins or year-round "glamping" cottages.
Primitive cabins sleep four, have a small fridge and microwave, a table with chairs, bunk bed, and futon. You'll have access to the restroom and shower building.
