It's hard to pass up a good haunt, especially if you're the type who loves the thrills and chills of history and paranormal activity. In Iowa, there are a few places where you can snag a good scare... that is if you're brave enough. At the Franklin Hotel in Iowa, you can stay overnight and see for yourself if the rumors of hauntings and happenings are true.
The Franklin Hotel in Strawberry Point, Iowa dates all the way back to the early 1900s.
Having since been restored, there are still plenty of aspects of this hotel that offer a vintage vibe and time-honored decor.
However, with such history also comes stories — many of which involve paranormal activity from two ghosts in particular.
One ghost, named Lily, can be heard singing or moaning through the halls and has even been seen wandering aimlessly wearing a lavender gown.
Lily has been known to move furniture or even float her way to and from the lobby back to what used to be her room.
The other ghost said to walk the hotel’s halls is Leo, who used to operate the hotel’s laundry for more than 30 years — visitors have reported hearing him ringing the old hotel bell system at night.
Even with reports of hauntings, The Franklin Hotel and accompanying coffee shop is still a gem to many locals and those looking for a comfy place to rest their heads.
But even with knowledge of such history and not one but two ghosts wandering about, are you brave enough to spend the night?
