In the heart of the Amana Colonies, there's a campground that's not just spacious - it's huge. The Amana RV Park & Event Center is a sprawling Iowa campground in the Iowa River valley that's perfect for a getaway - it's in a great location, has plenty of amenities and there's a ton of room to stretch out.
Here's why the Amana RV Park is a town-like campground you simply have to visit.
The campground is located near Amana, about 20 minutes from Cedar Rapids and Iowa City and it's in a beautiful rural location. It was originally created for the World AG Expo in 1988. This is the view of the southwest side of the park.
The campground is massive - it spans 80 acres and has 450 campsites! The campsites are all level and can be reached via well-maintained gravel roads. Some sites are available with fire rings, most sites have picnic tables and there's free wi-fi.
The park can accommodate large groups and it's popular with rallies. Grab some friends and some Airstreams and make it a weekend! If you're looking for ways to prepare for an RV road trip, check out our guide of everything you need to know about renting RVs for a road trip.
There's a laundromat on site and firewood is available - sometimes, there's complimentary scrap wood from the Amana Furniture Shop. The bathrooms are modern and accessible with showers. The sites are all 70 feet by 30 feet and most are equipped with sewer, water and electricity.
There's also an event facility at the campground. Many events are held here, including Becksterfest, WoodFest, Firecracker 4th Antique Show, Cedar Valley Rocks & Minerals Show, and many dog events. Sometimes weddings and family reunions also take place.
While the campground is surrounded by fields, most of Amana's shops are within about a 20-minute walk of the campground.
The campground is usually open from May 1 - October 31 and has discounts available for longer stays, but make sure to stay connected with them online to follow announcements and other important information about this RV park in Iowa.
