When you need a break from life, what immediately comes to your mind? A relaxing trip to the beach, or maybe a thrill-filled trip to an amusement park? If you need to get away from it all, seek out Beside Still Waters, a peaceful retreat in the wilds of Indiana. Built in the 1850s, this tulip poplar cabin has stood the test of time.
Located in Spencerville, just 25 minutes from downtown Fort Wayne, this scenic retreat sits right next to a private 8-acre pond. It offers a great opportunity to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Time could be spent doing several recreational activities. Kayaking, swimming, and fishing are all allowed on the pond.
This destination is open all year long, excluding major holidays. The winter could offer up some added coziness for your visit.
Speaking of recreational activities, ice skating is also available, if you choose to visit during the right time! Afterward, settle down by the fireplace and thaw out.
Might we also recommend heading out during the fall? Nothing beats a Midwest autumn!
The surrounding forest houses several trails if you need to walk some stress off.
Before heading out, be prepared to unplug and isolate yourself. If a getaway featuring Wi-Fi or television is what you're after, look elsewhere.
The cabin lacks these amenities so that you can easily disconnect. Technology is amazing, but sometimes it's okay to take a break.
One of the features is a full kitchen, so you can cook all the comfort food you want. Make it your home away from home.
Beside Still Waters can accommodate up to four people in its two bedrooms.
The king-sized bed offers a little privacy in its own room. Meanwhile, the full-sized bed is nestled in the loft, overlooking the rest of the cabin.
Keep in mind that only four people can spend the night at this cabin and six people are allowed on the premises at a time. For the day visitors, there is an additional fee if they use the property for fishing, boating, hiking, or swimming. You can visit the website here. You have to call to reserve your stay.
