Indiana has its fair share of haunted places, from hotels to cemeteries to ghost towns. While there are plenty of haunted areas to explore in the Hoosier state, one of the most interesting (and controversial!) is actually a rumored haunted campground. This haunted campground is more commonly referred to as a spiritual campground and has a fascinating history that will compel you to visit, immediately...
Camp Chesterfield is a famous spiritualist camp best known for its charges of defrauding the public. Mediums who worked at this camp convince people they could call upon spirits and contact the dead.
This camp as founded in the 1800s and helped promote the religion of Spiritualism. Though many skeptics and professionals have deduced that the workers here are frauds, its reputation for spooking the public still remains.
This campground formerly consisted of tents, cabins, communal housing, a dining hall, tent auditoriums, and seance halls. While the original buildings no longer exist there is a meeting house, church, and other buildings that can be visited.
While this isn't a traditional campground, Camp Chesterfield is a National Historic Site. Guests can stay at the Western Hotel nearby while investigating the grounds.
Visitors can book readings with the camp's mediums and explore the spiritual grounds. Strange things have been known to occur on these grounds, so be careful. For more information, check out the video below.
