Do you remember you were in school? You'd walk the halls and get to class, and the teacher would teach while making notes on the chalkboard. For many of us, schools are nostalgic places filled with hope, dreams, and memories. And there's one school located in small-town Illinois that has been converted into a fantastic bed and breakfast. A stay here may transport you right back to your youth. Welcome to Davie School Inn!
Davie School Inn is located in the southern Illinois town of Anna along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail and close to the Shawnee National Forest, Giant City State Park, and Cache River. It offers eight subject-themed classroom suites and three romantic suites. All rooms are named after colors.
Each suite is 850 square feet or larger and has its own bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub, king-sized Tempurpedic bed, sitting area, and kitchenette with a coffee station.
Davie School was originally a public grade school that opened in 1910 and started with 10 classrooms. In 1953, three additional classrooms were added along with a teacher's lounge, gym, nurse's office, and principal's office. It eventually closed its doors in 1997.
The building was purchased in 2002 by the original owners who restored it, leaving the original flooring, chalkboards, and bookshelves. It is now owned by Lyle and Tammy Woodrum who are committed to making sure that everyone's stay here is comfortable and enjoyable.

When you walk into the first-floor landing, memories of your school days may come flooding back. You'll notice the classroom doors with windows and the stairwell that leads to the second floor.
What was your favorite subject in school? All rooms are named after colors with school subject themes. The Black Suite is American history, Red is geography, White is math, Orange is social studies, Green is reading and writing, Yellow is science, Brown is earth science, and Blue is music and art.
Pictured here is the Black Suite with its American history theme, complete with a large American flag, historical items, and books with a historical theme.
The red geography-themed suite has a map of the United States, a globe, and travel books. Isn't it wonderful to stay overnight at a place where you can also learn something?
Feel free to use the room's chalkboard and take some notes!
The largest and most luxurious suite at the inn is the Gold Suite. At 1,000 square feet, it has plenty of room to roam around, find a spot to relax, and it even comes with its own fenced-in courtyard. It is perfect for a special occasion or romantic getaway.
The Gold, Pink, and Purple Suites are the three romantic suites at Davie School Inn.
A delicious breakfast is served in your room every morning. Don't worry, it's nothing like the school lunches you experienced during your childhood!
The Davie School Inn certainly deserves an A+!
