Boise is a beautiful city that dates back to 1864. While today, much has changed, there are still several areas of the city where you can take a step back in time like Boise’s historic North End neighborhood. This was the city’s first suburban neighborhood, created in 1878 and while small, it still offered much for residents. Today, you can visit Boise’s historic North End neighborhood and stay for a while. In the Franklin House, one of Boise’s oldest ice houses, you’ll have a getaway that you’ll never want to leave.
Welcome to the Franklin House! Located on the corner of 15th Street and Franklin, this building was constructed in 1896. Today, it has become the ultimate getaway location — especially for adults.
Despite being restored, this historic ice house still boasts lots of charm. It has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Each room has its own unique theme and numerous amenities. Some of the rooms feature private bathrooms, while others are shared.
The Carmine Room, for example, is one of the most popular rooms at this getaway destination in Idaho. This room features a queen bed, private bathroom, sitting area, two windows, and a jetted corner tub — sounds dreamy doesn't it?
While the rooms are each lovely, what really sets the Franklin House apart is its beer garden.
The backyard of this historic house has been transformed into a relaxing space with fire pits, tables, and even hammocks.
But best of all, you can unwind with a beer or a glass of wine in your hand. The Franklin House offers 14 rotating taps of beer, cider, and more.
While guests can always enjoy this space, on Wednesday to Saturday evenings, this area is open to the public. Individuals 21 years old and older, as well as well-behaved and on-leash dogs are welcome.
Special events are also held at the Franklin House such as visits from food trucks, live music, and wine tasting events. This is the ultimate space to enjoy yourself and let the worries of daily life wash away.
So, whether you stay for a weekend or just for a few hours, you can relax, unwind, and enjoy yourself at this historic ice house in Boise’s historic North End.
