Idaho is a state that's full of dog lovers. Believe it or not, the Gem State is commonly regarded as boasting the most dog owners out of any other state in the country! However, there's one couple that has gone above and beyond when it comes to their passion for dogs. They are the owners of the Dog Bark Park Inn, a dog-themed bed and breakfast in North Idaho, and it's truly a dream come true for dog enthusiasts. This B&B is more than a little quirky but that's exactly why you should make it the destination for your next little getaway. Come hide out for a few days inside what may just be the world's only dog-shaped hotel!
Located near the town of Cottonwood in north-central Idaho, the Dog Bark Park is one of the strangest destinations in all of Idaho. Period. The dog-shaped, or more specifically beagle-shaped, hotel is a quaint bed and breakfast that makes for an absolutely lovely hideout.
Known among locals as Sweet Willy, the World's Biggest Beagle officially opened to guests for the first time in August 2003. Since then, the hotel has been featured all over the world for its iconic appearance and strange but adorable theme.
The Dog Bark Park is the passion of a local husband and wife team, Dennis Sullivan and Frances Conklin. The couple are first and foremost artists who have devoted decades to carving wooden dogs. Their famous carvings were even sold on QVC television back in 1995.
After their big break on QVC, Frances and Dennis invested all of their earnings into building the Dog Bark Park. The two-bedroom B&B can sleep up to four people and contains all of the dog-themed items and figurines you could ever dream of. It may be a little odd but it's oh-so-charming.
The bed and breakfast lodges guests every year from April through October. The hotel's unique theme may be what it's most famous for but visitors are quick to realize that this bed and breakfast makes for a cozy getaway destination, as well!
Additionally, the Dog Bark Park is located in close proximity to some of the region's greatest attractions including the Hells Canyon Gorge and Lewis & Clark Trail. The property itself is also home to the Dog Bark Park visitor center where you'll find dog-themed gifts and even some of the owners' famous canine carvings.
The Dog Bark Park is unique in every sense of the word, but it's the B&Bs quaint charm and stunning location that make every visit one to remember. Book your getaway at Idaho's cutest bed and breakfast for a howling good time you'll be talking about for years to come! More information can be found on Airbnb or their website.
