Planning the ultimate dream vacation right now is something everyone is likely doing. Whether it’s mentally choosing the spot with the clearest water, or simply finding a place where you can relax and retreat oceanside, we all need a break. Vacationing in Georgia for many involves a visit to the coast, more specifically, St. Simons Island. If you’re looking to visit a place that is both equal parts beauty and fascinating history, then we have the perfect spot. Get to know The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort in Georgia.
The historic King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort in Georgia has been around since the 1930s when it originally opened as a seaside dance club.
Fast-forward six years, the main hotel building opened up to the general public and became the King and Prince Hotel.
What made this beautiful place such a gem right off the bat was the proximity to the ocean—waterfront views for miles.
Throughout World War II, the hotel became a naval coast-watching and training facility but eventually reopened to the public again in 1947.
Renovations occurred throughout the years, eventually leading to earning the title as one of the Historic Hotels of America in 1996.
Eventually, in 2003, the main building of the hotel went through a huge renovation, which enhanced the property even further, adding an additional 57 brand new guest rooms.
In 2005, the resort was named to the National Register of Historic Places.
Today, you can spend an evening at the hotel and feel the history as you walk through the halls—or while enjoying a dip in the oceanfront pool.
While the building today looks vastly different than when it did nearly a century ago, one thing remains the same, the resort still offers unrivaled Southern hospitality in one of the most stunning locations on Georgia’s coast.
