With springtime in full swing and summer right around the corner, families and friends are starting to plan their next camping extravaganza. However, a new wave of camping has seemingly become popular among the younger crowds, as well as those who maybe can't hack it full-time in the wilderness. This new form of camping is called "glamping", and it combines the words "glamorous" and "camping" to create a more manageable way to temporarily live in the wild. Glamping usually involves more amenities than regular camping allows. So if visiting a glampground is something you're interested in checking out, then take a look at these eight luxury glampgrounds in Georgia and get excited:
1. Yurts at High Falls State Park—76 High Falls Park Drive, Jackson, GA 30233
High Falls State Park, located in central Georgia, has very spacious campgrounds which cater to both the more primitive camper, as well as the glamper. You can rent one of the six yurts available, which are located lakeside. Each yurt features a small deck, picnic table, and grill outside, plus furniture, electrical outlets and a ceiling fan inside. Talk about glamorous camping!
2. The Martyn House—912 Flat Branch Rd, Ellijay, GA 30540
The Martyn House is an 18-acre adult-only retreat which features unique luxury sleeping tents from India. These tents are beautifully decorated and each have their own private bath with hot showers and composting toilets. You have the similar comforts of home, yet in a more environmentally friendly atmosphere.
3. Historic Banning Mills: Tree House Getaways
This adventure retreat allows for a more relaxing overnight stay in one of their new treehouses. These unique accommodations are nestled in their very own village, and allow guests to sleep comfortably, high in the treetops. Take your own Swiss Family Robinson adventure with the family.
4. Ellijay, Georgia: Restored Vintage Airstream
Have you ever wanted to treat your inner road tripper to a night in an Airstream? Now you can. This unusual glamping experience near Carter's Lake, allows campers to stay in a vintage travel trailer tucked away in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. How cool!
5. Hostel in the Forest, Brunswick, GA
This secluded land offers the privacy that most camping allows, with just a bit more luxury thrown into the mix. Hostel in the Forest is world renowned for their geodesic domes and nine tree houses, which are surrounded by lush, dense, sub-tropical land thanks to its close location to St. Simons and Jekyll Islands.
6. North Georgia Canopy Tours—5290 Harris Rd, Lula, GA 30554
Camping with North Georgia Canopy Tours allows for a less primitive camping experience, as you can choose from a variety of their modern teepees. Whether you're sleeping two, or trying to fit a family of 10, North Georgia Canopy Tours has a teepee glampground for everyone.
7. Yurts at Cloudland Canyon State Park
Cloudland Canyon has many options for overnight camping, and a few yurts for some glamping. These more modern, quirky yurts are an extremely popular choice among those looking for a few more amenities than a tent provides, so make sure you reserve early.
8. Ellijay, Georgia: Glamping Dome in the Appalachian Mountains
Rejuvenating tranquility is only a few steps away in this geodesic dome in Ellijay, Georgia. Imagine being surrounded by beautiful, fresh streams and lush, peaceful wildlife. Inside your dome you also have a private bath, bathtub, and wooden furniture to create a more rustic experience.
