Camping is fun. We love getting in touch with nature, sleeping under the stars, and building a campfire. But we get it, sometimes roughing it is just not that appealing. If you're looking for camping, but with a little more style, glamping is right up your alley. It's like camping, but with a little more luxury. You're typically sleeping in a bed and not as exposed to the elements. Luckily for you, there are plenty of great spots to go glamping in Connecticut! One of our very favorites is Lake Compounce Campground.
You may know this spot by its former name, Bear Creek Campground. This family campground in Connecticut offers tons of activities and is a great spot to spend a few days out in nature camping at Lake Compounce without roughing it too much.
They've got plenty of RV sites and tent camping sites, so if you prefer to stay in one of those, the option is there.
But if you're looking for a more glamorous option, the Lake Compounce cabins are the way to go.
Cabins come in a few different sizes, and you can choose what you need based on the number of people in your party.
The one-bedroom cabin, two-bedroom cabin, and Cub Hut all come with at least two beds, cable TV, and heating and air conditioning. The massive two bedroom cabins can sleep up to eight people, so bring the whole family!
There's a lot to enjoy here and the whole family will have a blast.
Best of all, the campground is located within walking distance of Lake Compounce Amusement Park.
Open since 1846, this is the oldest continuously-operating amusement park in the country. It's got 44 attractions, with 13 water rides and five roller coasters.
The park is open seasonally, but even when the rides aren't running, there are regular events that are worth checking out.
Their holiday shows are particularly fun!
