Nestled away in the beautiful San Luis Valley (pictured), the San Luis Valley Museum Association is a 20+-year-old organization that strives to be "Your Pathway to the History of the San Luis Valley and southern Colorado," which they do via their incredible Museum Trail.
Featuring 20 mostly volunteer-run museums, the San Luis Valley Museum Association and their Museum Trail strive to "preserve, protect and celebrate the history of the San Luis Valley," with nearly every museum highlighting a different part of this amazing area.
Whether you are interested in Native American history, mining in the area, or even patriotic exhibitions, you will find something to love along the unique Museum Trail.
Which area museums are part of the San Luis Valley Museum Association and Museum Trail? The route includes everything from the Transportation of the West Museum to the Hazard House Museum and Creede Underground Mining Museum.

In addition to the museums around the San Luis Valley, the Museum Trail also includes that of the Francisco Fort in La Veta, Hinsdale County Museum in Lake City, and Old Spanish Trail "outdoor" museum (pictured), genuinely making the path a one-stop-shop for all things history!
