Opened on June 10, 1893, the Hotel Colorado is a magnificent Italianate-style masterpiece that cost a whopping $850,000 to build (the equivalent of $30M today) and offered luxurious amenities that drew in celebrities and dignitaries alike.
Nicknamed "the little White House of the West," the Hotel was a famous escape for Presidents William Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt, the latter of which was so liked by housekeeping that they sewed together the first-ever "Teddy" bear in his honor.
Located in Glenwood Springs, the Hotel Colorado is just as exciting today as it was in the beginning and still boasts beautiful accommodations complete with standard queen and king rooms and sprawling suites.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. An Instagram ad caught my eye during a late-night scroll session and I was intrigued by the colorful compartments and versatility of the bag, which can be carried as a duffle or as a backpack (I prefer the backpack for even weight distribution and airport navigation.) Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. All aboard the historic Royal Gorge Railroad and its festive Santa Express Train! Located in Canon City, the Santa Express Train is about as magical as it gets as the train — which makes four trips a day — runs to the North Pole via the scenic Royal Gorge Route.
While aboard, you will not only be treated to a special meet and greet with Jolly Old St. Nicholas himself but also to beautiful decor and light displays, cookies and cocoa, and a gift from Santa.
