With the Covid-19 pandemic still as prevalent as ever, Coloradans are beginning to look to the future (or at least try) and plan what their winter will look like. Thanks to social distancing and other factors, restaurants and other businesses are also having to get creative to stay both open and busy while keeping its customers safe. While one may think that the last line is an oxymoron, it is not, as one charming Colorado town found an innovative way to entertain guests whilst staying in line with state guidelines:
You have been on the gondolas before and enjoyed 360-degree views as far as the eye can see, but beginning this winter, you will also get to enjoy dining in the gondola cars around Mountain Village’s plazas.
According to their recent press release, this innovative new dining experience is the brainchild of both the Town of Mountain Village and Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association (TMVOA), who were looking for creative ways to keep people coming to town as well as support local restaurants.
In addition to the gondolas, the space will also feature re-purposed yurts for guests and weatherproof structures for the restaurants to use, which will both be located in the same area as the cars.
If you have been on the Mountain Village gondolas before, you may be surprised at its change in appearance, as the dining gondolas - which range in size from eight to 24-seaters - are also slated to feature heating, ventilation, and lighting.
Like other restaurants, the Mountain Village gondolas will have a QR code on the table that - when patrons scan the code with their phone - will bring up the menu options from 12 participating restaurants.
