It may be November already, but here in Southern California, it's still warm enough for us to spend time outdoors doing one of our favorite things: camping! While the rest of the country is starting to bundle up for the chilly season, we're still enjoying the warm weather and having a blast spending time outside sleeping or napping under the SoCal sky. If you love camping as much as we do, here's a little secret on where to go to experience the best KOA in Southern California.
The San Diego Metro KOA is the perfect spot to take the whole family for an unforgettable camping experience unlike anywhere you've ever pitched a tent.
For starters, here's the address: You can find the SD Metro KOA at 111 2nd Avenue in Chula Vista. It's only 20 minutes away from San Diego, which means it will be a quick and easy trip to get here from most major areas in SoCal.
The first thing you'll notice when you pull into the campground is just how many options you have for lodging.
You can sleep outside under the stars in a tent at one of the traditional campsites for rent. Or...
Bring your RV and hook up to one of their RV sites where you can camp the night away in familiar surroundings.
Or, if you prefer glamping instead of camping, you have the option of renting one of their cabins for a cozy cabin getaway.
If you opt for a deluxe cabin, you'll get cozy accommodations that include all linens, a full kitchen, and a bathroom.
While camping or glamping here, you definitely won't get bored on this trip. For starters, you can explore the area on a bike or pedalcar. If you aren't able to bring your own bikes you can always rent some at the campground.
Or how about a little adventure on the rock climbing wall? I bet you didn't expect to see something like this at a campground facility.
And let's not forget about the swimming pool. On a hot SoCal day, this is a refreshing place to be.
After all that activity, you're going to need a bite to eat. So how about a picnic lunch? You can use the onsite grills to whip up burgers and dogs and then enjoy your lunch at the picnic tables.
And if you don't feel like cooking, just grab a bite to eat at the on-site café. Rumor has it that it's pretty tasty.
Once your belly is nice and happy, don't forget to take a nap. Imagine spending the day relaxing on this porch swing. Looks like the perfect spot to sip some lemonade and read a good book.
But the real highlight is taking some time to bond with friends and family at the end of the day as you gather around the campfire. What an ideal day at the best KOA in California!
