This weather Arizona is experiencing right now is perfect travel weather. It's warm, the sun is shining, and you're probably itching for a chance to get on the road and experience all the beautiful places you can find in Arizona. If you're on the lookout for a place to stay in northern Arizona that's a little different and gives you a chance to experience the local culture, we have just the place for you! This bed and breakfast separates you from lots of modern amenities and offers the chance to reflect, unwind, and absorb the world around you.
This is Shash Diné Eco-Retreat: a Glamping B&B. Located on the Navajo Nation about 12 miles south of Page, this is a remote place that gives you the opportunity to see another way of life separate from bustling cities, busy schedules, and even electricity.
From Highway 89, you'll drive a short distance on a dirt road to the B&B with a sign directing the way.
Once you arrive, you'll find the area is absolutely stunning! The land and sky seem to never end and it is unbelievably quiet.
Your room choices vary with the seasons and availability but you get tons of choices! Your choices begin with two Navajo hogans: one traditional made of earth and log, the other a more modern approach made from wood.
Or you can choose a bell tent to satisfy your inner bohemian.
The bell tent's interior is spectacular and feels romantic.
Or you can choose to sleep in a "sheepherder" wagon, which feels like a combination of a covered wagon and a Romani vardo.
The amenities here are limited, giving you a chance to unplug, unwind, and relax from a digital world.
Your choice of toilet includes a composting outhouse and a portapotty. Your bathing options are also pretty limited. Did we mention that none of the rooms have electricity as well?
In the morning, you'll get to enjoy a complimentary breakfast that is simple yet satisfying.
The breakfast consists of fresh, seasonal fruit, blue corn mush (a traditional Navajo dish), and piping hot coffee or Navajo tea.
Before you turn in for the night, take the time to hike around the area. You'll see some amazing desert landscapes untouched by modernity.
A walk around the premises will also introduce you to the pastoral life many Navajo families still live. The B&B is located on a working ranch, so you'll get to see the sheep, goats, horses, and ranch dogs busy before nightfall.
The B&B also happens to be near a collection of incredible spots that you can only find in Arizona!
Horseshoe Bend, Marble Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and so many other places are just an hour or so away!
