To get to Whittier you have to travel through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel.
This famous tunnel runs through a mountain, and is the only way to drive to Whittier. You actually share the tunnel with the Alaska Railroad, and have to wait your turn until the train passes through!
Whittier is a charming little town right on Prince William Sound.
Only a 40 minute drive from Anchorage, it boasts stunning views of mountains, waterfalls, and gorgeous ocean vistas. Theres also a beautiful harbor filled with both sail and motor boats.
