Headed to the southeast of Alaska to escape for a gorgeous weekend away? Look up Haines first bed and breakfast, based in a house built in 1904 as a part of Fort William H. Seward. This adorable little bed and breakfast has all of the charm and history you need for a memorable trip to this tiny town!
This beautiful building was built in 1904, when the US Military established Fort William H. Seward.
It is located on "Officer’s Row," in historic Fort Seward. This building, House Number One, was built for the Chief Surgeon! It was originally converted into a bed and breakfast in 1981 and was called "Fort Seward Bed and Breakfast."
All the rest of the homes on this road have been converted into duplexes, while House Number One is still a single family residence.
While many houses in Haines are built pre-fabricated and shipped into town, this house was built right on this site. It is a perfect example of Jeffersonian architecture!
The rooms are stunning and have been recently remodeled.
Expect gorgeous attention to period details, without sacrificing cleanliness or modern luxury. The rooms with ensuite bathrooms are freshly tiled, with chrome details and simple, classic lines.
When you stay at this cozy little bed and breakfast, expect your day to start off royally with a delicious breakfast made in-house.
They will accommodate any kind of food allergies you may have, and guests rave about the fresh fruit, yogurt, frittatas, and delicious coffee options! The breakfast option is usually "Cook’s choice," but they will definitely consider requests!
With your morning cup of coffee, or evening glass of wine, make sure to take advantage of their incredible front porch.
The views are incomparable, and there is plenty of seating for everyone. In fact, if you arrive before check in or after check out, many guests enjoy lounging in the porch and soaking in the scene.
This house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places!
The rooms all have WiFi and individually controlled heat, a luxury in such a historic home. Even better, there are gorgeous restaurants, a distillery, and even galleries close to the bed and breakfast for you to explore.
You can stay at this cozy little bed and breakfast year round!
