Have you ever wondered what it might be like to name a street or road? Every state seems to have its fair share of unique, unusual, and downright crazy street names and the Evergreen State is no exception. We've found some roads that will make you scratch your head and laugh out loud. See if you recognize any of these 10 crazy street names in Washington.

1. Toe Jam Hill Road, Bainbridge Island

There are several explanations for the origin of this rather unusual name. Some say Toe Jam Road is named for an early settler by the name of Torjam. Others insist it was named for stumbling drunkards. In any case, this is one road name your won't forget.

2. Baby Doll Road, Port Orchard

You would think that a street with such a charming name would be in the scenic, pastoral countryside, but Baby Doll Road in Port Orchard is not unlike many other rural roads, with one exception. It is said to be one of the most haunted roads in Washington with multiple reports of ghostly apparitions.

3. Egg And I Road, Chimacum

Named for the best-selling book, "The Egg And I", this road runs alongside the farm site once owned by Betty MacDonald, the book's author.

4. Sleater-Kinney Road, Lacey

You might recognize the name Sleater-Kinney as the band name of indie-rock "riot grrrls", Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein (of "Portlandia" fame), and Janet Weiss. The band was formed in Olympia, Washington, and took inspiration for its name from Sleater-Kinney Road.

5. Hangman Valley Road, Spokane

Named after the atrocious act of 1858 when Yakima Indian Chief Qualchan and several members of his tribe were hanged without trial. In 1899, Hangman Creek was changed back to its original Native name, Latah Creek, but to this day locals and mapmakers still refer to the area as Hangman Valley.

6. Kitchen-Dick Road, Sequim

The story is simple. Two Sequim founding families put their surnames together to name the road alongside their property, and the result was Kitchen-Dick Road. Sidenote - Kitchen-Dick intersects with Woodcock. We can't make this stuff up!

7. Shaggy Dog Lane, Poulsbo

In Washington's "Little Norway" town of Poulsbo, you'll find Shaggy Dog Lane, and we can't think of a sweeter, more adorably descriptive name for a road.

8. Yellow Brick Road, Olalla

It's not in the Emerald City, and there's not a good witch or munchkin to be seen, but you can't help but smile when you pass Yellow Brick Road. We recommend listening to Elton John as you drive by.

9. Orange Place, Seattle

Orange Place is nestled in the charming Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. It's not actually orange, and we couldn't find any other color-themed street names in the area, (or fruit-themed, for that matter) but Orange Place just has a sunny and warm sound to it.

10. Useless Bay Avenue, Langley

It's not as sad as it sounds. Useless Bay, in Island County, was named for its frequent inclement weather.
