The best thing about Vermont is the people who live here. These hardworking, friendly, resourceful folks are truly the best people you'll ever meet. While Vermonters are surrounded by gorgeous mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, covered bridges and more, and these things are made even better when enjoyed with people we genuinely care about. Sure, the following qualities could be found throughout the country, but when it comes to a Vermonter, we know there's something extra special.
1. We grow our own veggies and make our own syrup.
And we always share!
2. We recycle.
We don't stop our recycling with just cans and bottles - we'll find a way to reuse anything and everything!
3. Community events.
Vermont has many fairs, festivals, suppers, picnics, block parties, and gatherings, and EVERYONE is invited. No one is left out, and that's pretty excellent.
4. We love Green Up Day!
Vermonters are good when it comes to carry in, carry out, but one of our favorite days of the year is Green Up Day. This is the day we all gather and clean up the streets, parks and just about everywhere else to keep our state clean and green.
5. Love for all generations.
Most community events involve families and people of all ages. Children see how we respect and look after each other and subsequently learn from examples. It's a trickle down effect that bridges generations and fosters a love and respect for everyone.
6. We're a little crazy at times...
But we're tough.
7. We love our freshly picked food.
And we're happy to share with everyone!
8. We love our small towns.
The town may be small, but the pride is HUGE!
9. We are very polite drivers.
We stop and let people into traffic, and we stop to let snowmobiles, cows, bikes, and everyone else cross the road.
10. We help each other out.
Literally. If there is someone in a ditch, there is usually someone else there trying to pull them out.
11. We love to laugh.
Vermonters appreciate the little things in life, and we love a big, genuine laugh!
12. We have the best festivals around.
Everyone is invited, and the streets and fields are packed with friendly and familiar faces.
13. The best fairs, too!
From the Champlain Valley Fair to the Tunbridge World's Fair, Vermont truly has the best!
14. Vermont locals know all the best places.
Take the Brewster River Gorge, for example. This may not be on everyone's radar, but it's definitely worth a visit.
15. We have great imaginations.
Not to mention a sense of humor!
16. We are very family oriented.
Especially when your family generations are all from Vermont!
17. We love to enjoy the outdoors.
If it involves fresh air and beautiful surroundings, count us in!
18. We appreciate the simple things.
Whether it's a long hike or penny candy from the local country store, it doesn't take much to make a Vermonter happy.
19. We are excellent cooks!
With limited fine dining and an abundance of fresh foods available, we know how to serve up some pretty amazing meals.
20. We'll try just about anything...
21. And we sometimes try it twice!
