With so many unique places in Utah, it's really impossible to describe how incredible our state is in a single article. But we're going to try and highlight some of the best places to visit in Utah, as well as a few awesome Utah attractions, in an attempt to give you a taste of the Beehive State's greatness.
1. Aggie Blue Mint Ice Cream
The creamery at Utah State offers a truly unique flavor: Aggie Blue Mint. It consists of a delicious minty ice cream, along with pieces of white chocolate and chocolate cookies.
2. A Tree That’s Also a Metaphor
The 87-foot-tall sculpture Metaphor: The Tree of Utah was installed in 1986.
3. A Herd of Bison Living on an Island
Antelope Island is home to 500-700 bison. I doubt you'll find another state in the nation that has a cool island with resident buffalo!
4. Utah’s Unique Powder
Our powder is unique to Utah. You won't find this mixture of humidity and altitude anywhere else in the world, and it makes for perfect powder.
5. The Headquarters of the LDS Church
The LDS Church has had a large presence in our state since Brigham Young first proclaimed this to be "the right place" in 1847. While you'll find members of the church all over the globe, Utah is home to the church's headquarters, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the church's top leaders.
6. The Five Best National Parks in the Nation
It's a matter of preference, but I'd argue that Utah's national parks are the best in the nation. Arches, Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef and Canyonlands all offer beauty unique to Utah.
7. Pastrami Burgers
A signature burger created by Crown Burgers in the 1980s popularized the idea of putting pastrami on a hamburger. Other states may copy the idea, but we have the original.
8. A Salty Lake
At its lowest elevation, the Great Salt Lake consists of as much as 28 percent salt. It's the largest saltwater lake in the entire Western hemisphere.
9. A Sphinx with the Face of Joseph Smith
At Gilgal Sculpture Garden in Salt Lake City, you can find a sculpture of a sphinx with the head of Joseph Smith (the founder of the LDS church). I'm sure you won't find another sculpture like this...anywhere in the world.
10. Utah Honey
You can't find honey like Utah's anywhere else on the planet. The taste of honey varies depending on the local flora that the bees visit. Utah honey is delicious.
11. This is the Place
Brigham Young looked over our valley in 1847 and proclaimed, "This is the right place!" So, we put up a monument!
12. A Spiral Jetty
Robert Smithson created Spiral Jetty in 1970.
