We're about to enter into the second half of the school year, so it's time to start thinking about where to send the kiddos next year if they're headed into middle or high school, or perhaps starting school for the first time. If you're planning a big move over the summer and aren't too sure which areas of Texas have the best districts, Niche.com has you covered. These are the 10 best cities for schools in the state.
1. Austin
Both Eanes and Lake Travis Independent School Districts made the top 10. Their academics, college readiness, teachers, and health/safety were all given an A+ grade, while diversity and clubs/activities followed closely behind with a score of B.
2. Mercedes
South Texas ISD is the #2 school district in the state for 2017, scoring an A in everything but clubs and activities which got a B.
3. Dallas
The Highland Park District in Dallas is the third-highest ranked in Texas, scoring an A in everything save for diversity in which it was given a C.
4. Coppell
The small town of Coppell managed to land a top five spot with an A in every single category. It's especially renowned for athletes, so if you have a rising football star in your household, this is the district to send him to.
5. Plano
Plano ISD scored an A in every aspect other than clubs and activities, in which it was given a B. It's acclaimed for its diversity and amazing teachers who are deeply invested in the success of their students.
6. Southlake
Carroll ISD received a C in diversity but an A in everything else. It ranked highly for its excellent teachers and athletic coaches.
7. Allen
Despite having the name "Lovejoy," which gives it extra points already, this district is the seventh most highly ranked in Texas, with A scores in every category except diversity, in which is was awarded a C. Lovejoy ISD is one of the safest districts in the state and one of the best to teach in according to its educators.
8. Frisco
Frisco ISD received an A in every single aspect. It's one of the largest districts in Texas and boasts some of the best teachers in the state.

9. San Antonio
San Antonio's Alamo Heights ISD is the ninth best school district in our state. It got an A in everything other than diversity, in which it scored a B, and it's the fourth best place to teach in Texas as well as having some of the best teachers.
10. Aledo
Aledo ISD almost cracked the top 10, being held back only by its C rank in diversity and B in clubs/activities. However, it makes up for that shortcoming by being the sixth safest district in Texas and one of the best for athletes.
