Even before Hurricane Harvey, we Texans were obsessed with H-E-B. We refuse to shop anywhere else, and we don't know what to do with ourselves when we travel out of state and don't have access to the store. When Texas was hit by one of the most devastating storms in our history, H-E-B stepped up to the plate and provided meals, water, and discounted prices to help those who lost everything at least obtain essential supplies for survival. Here are 10 reasons, both storm related and otherwise, that H-E-B is the best grocery store in Texas.

1. They sell more than just groceries.

From birthday cards to auto and home cleaning supplies and everything in between, H-E-B is your one-stop shop for all the items you need in your everyday life.

2. They donate.

Whether it's world hunger or relief from a major hurricane, H-E-B is extremely generous. In fact, they donated $100,000 to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey!

3. They actually sell things at low prices.

Unlike other grocery stores that jack prices up only to reduce them just a hair, H-E-B is actually affordable. After Hurricane Harvey, some locations were selling bread for as little as 10 cents!

4. They lend a helping hand.

I personally witnessed dozens of H-E-B Disaster Relief trucks on the highway years ago. They were heading to South Texas to provide meals for the communities devastated by Hurricane Harvey.

5. The produce is actually fresh.

There's nothing worse than buying a seemingly juicy and delicious box of strawberries only to open them and discover that they aren't ripe yet or, even worse, they're covered in mold. You won't find that at H-E-B, though! Only the best quality food is sold here.

6. The gas is cheaper than competitors.

I'll never get gas anywhere else again. H-E-B's is always at least a few cents cheaper than all the major gas stations!

7. They sell unique products you won't find anywhere else.

Calling all foodies - this is the grocery store for you. Whiskey honey ice cream? I'll take 10 pints, please and thank you.

8. The Southern hospitality is unlike anything you've seen before.

Not only are the employees referred to as "partners," but they're always so nice. I've had workers escort me halfway across the store to show me where an item was instead of simply giving me an aisle number.

9. They understand that bacon belongs in everything.

Salsa, beans, and even oatmeal...bacon is basically a food group of its own, and H-E-B fully understands that sentiment.

10. They go all-out for holidays.

I've even seen cases of soda stacked in the shape of a jack-o-lantern for Halloween. What other store do you know of that does that?
