Today we are showing our pride for the Lone Star State, with this Texas A-Z list! It doesn't matter if you are moving to Texas or you've lived here your entire life, the Lone Star State is fascinating. We all know Texas is too awesome to sum up in just 26 words, so we've created your Texas A-Z list. This list provides everything you need to know about Texas history from A to Z. Get ready — your state pride is about to get Texas-sized.
Armadillo
I'd like to think we have by far the cutest state animal.
Barbecue
Barbecues are one of the best things about living in Texas. Where else do smokers this big exist?!
Country music
An ice cold beer and some George Strait in our ears is all we really need to have a good time.
Dr Pepper
We guzzle this stuff like water. (If you think we're being grammatically incorrect when we spell it, you must not be from Texas.)
Enchanted Rock
One of the greatest natural wonders of our state, no doubt. The name originated from the Tonkawa Indians who believed they saw ghost fires and heard creaking sounds coming from the rock after a Spanish conquistador placed a spell on it.
Football
I don't think this one needs any elaboration. Football should be on every Texas A-Z list.
Guadalupe Peak
Guadalupe Peak is the highest peak in Texas, and a total stunner!
Hamilton Pool
Speaking of stunning, we have a magical grotto in our state. We're cooler than you.
Ice Cream
Specifically Blue Bell. Nothing else.
Janis Joplin
She'll always have a little piece of our hearts.
King Ranch
It's the largest ranch in the entire country and the birthplace of the Santa Gertrudis breed of cattle.
Lyndon B. Johnson
One of the most influential presidents in history was born right here in Texas. He definitely deserves this spot on our Texas history A-Z list.
Muddin'.
You aren't a true Texan until your tires have been covered in mud.
NASA
"Houston, we have a problem!"
Oil
Oil is a big deal here — and our bank accounts are happy about that!
Palo Duro Canyon
Being close to this natural wonder is one of our favorite parts about living in Texas.
Queso
Cheese is one of our main food groups.
Rodeo
It ain't Texas without some annual calf ropin' and horse ridin'.
Sweet tea
Your teeth may fall out, but it's totally worth it!
Tubing!
Every Texan knows that summer means it's time to head to the hill country and hop in a tube for a long float.
Universities
We're home to several major universities!
Venison
We love us some deer sausage.
Whataburger
It's the best fast food around. We don't care if you think otherwise.
X Marks the Spot
We have a lot of buried treasure in Texas, surprisingly. One of the most notable is the Lost San Saba Silver Mine, which was last seen on maps in 1829.
Y'all
It's a Texas thing and y'all wouldn't understand.
ZZ Top
Yeah, we're pretty proud that our state produced such a legend.
There ya have it, folks. Here is your Texas history A-Z list and everything you need to know about Texas.
