Sometimes we just want to take a peek back into the past. Seeing what your state looked like before all the high rises and heavy technology can feel a bit like stepping into a time machine! We've hunted down nine photos of the Ocean state from years long gone by so you can get an idea of what life used to be like in Rhode Island.

Always a hub of Providence culture, Westminster street sure has changed a lot over the years!

Rocky Point Amusement Park has been closed since 1994, but this picture gives us a great idea of what it looked like in its heyday, full of happy people enjoying a day out.

Beach life is such a constant in Rhode Island, and these swimmers in Narragansett seem to be having just as much fun as the people who enjoy this beautiful beach today.
7. Jewelry makers in Providence Rhode Island, 1916
The jewelry district in Providence is no longer what it once was, but here we get a peek into the days that manufacturing was the biggest source of income for the city, and much of it came from these skilled makers.
8. Suffragettes outside their summer headquarters in Newport in 1914
This merry band of women is the Congressional Union for Woman's Suffrage. We're so lucky to get a chance to admire the women who helped move us forward in so many ways.
9. Women workers on the front lines of manufacturing in Providence in 1914
During World War I, many women had to join the workforce in order to cover the gaps in employment created by so many men enrolling to fight. Here we see a group of those women working to add rust prevention to hand grenades.
Aren't these photos so fascinating? It's so cool to see Rhode Island over 100 years ago and ponder about what life must have been like back then!
