Once upon a time, in 1760, a carriage stop called Old Acres was constructed in Rhode Island. It served its original purpose for many years before changing ownership many times. These days, it happens to be one of Rhody's most wildly popular restaurants, and we're so glad this place has stood the test of time.
Cottage Inn & Saloon is located in North Kingstown, where it has been for 261 years (but who's counting?).
Aside from having the best backstory ever, this place is fantastic for special occasions and everyday meals alike.
Despite the restaurant being relatively new, the building has a lot of historic charm.
The old carriage wheels in the windows are a great touch.
While things are a little quieter these days, you can still dine here -- but we highly recommend making a reservation.
And if you're not ready, just order some delicious takeout.
With a building this old, you're bound to hear some ghost stories, and this place does not disappoint.
Countless apparitions have been spotted here, and mysterious and unexplained sounds are fairly common. The restaurant was even featured on an episode of Ghost Hunters.
The food can best be described as classic American with a contemporary twist.
Burgers, sandwiches, seafood and steaks dominate the menu.
This is one place where you won't mind ordering a salad.
With names like Blackened Strawberry and Sunshine Chicken Salad , it's no wonder people love them.
Cottage Inn & Saloon opens at 11:30 a.m. every day but Tuesday.
It closes at 9 p.m. Sunday - Wednesday and 10 p.m. on the weekends.
We love learning about the history of this place, no to mention the top notch cuisine. Have you dined at The Carriage Inn & Saloon lately?
