Hope Valley is a little village in the town of Hopkinton in Washington County. The central portion of the village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and its history dates back to 1770. There's also an abandoned amusement park there that nature has reclaimed, and it's fascinating to see what remains.
The Enchanted Forest is an abandoned children's amusement park located in Hope Valley.
You can find it with these coordinates: 41.499054,-71.725169. The actual address is 909 Main Street, which is also called Nooseneck Hill Road.
Nature has taken over most of the area, and if you didn't know any better, you'd never guess there was a little children's paradise here.
But for over 30 years, this was a coveted place for kids to come.
The amusement park opened in 1972 as a fairytale -themed village theme park
It was built by Marcus Jones and Philip Herlle, who wanted something more than just your average tourist destination. That led them to build amongst a pond and trees.
When it first opened, The Enchanted Forest cost $1.25 for kids and $1.50 for adults.
That price sounds like a dream now, doesn't it?
The park once had a petting zoo with goats, lambs, rabbits, baby cows, ponies, llamas, and more.
Other attractions included a go-kart track, bumper cars, The Scrambler, swirling teacups, a Ferris Wheel, and plenty of others.
Unfortunately, The Enchanted Forest closed the park in 2005 for financial reasons.
The 31-acre property is not open to the public, but as far as we know, it's still for sale.
Have you ever heard of this eerily abandoned fairytale theme park? Perhaps you have even been. The park brought beautiful memories to local children, and for that we are thankful. And if you'd like to see Abandoned Enchanted Forest for yourself, just check out this fantastic video by Jason Allard:
