We love it when local restaurants survive the test of time. Eischen’s Bar is the oldest bar in Oklahoma, but we believe it’s more of a family-friendly restaurant. This beloved dining gem in Okarche has been in operation since 1896 and over the years, it has become famous for its mouthwatering fried chicken. They have impressive reviews with thousands of five stars, so if you’re a fan of history and fried chicken, Eischen’s should be at the top of your dining bucket list. Come for the history but stay for the food and the family-friendly atmosphere at one of the best bars in Oklahoma.
Eischen's Bar is located in the small town of Okarche, between Kingfisher and El Reno. It started as a watering hole then had to close during Prohibition but reopened in the 1930s.
In 1993 a fire broke out in the restaurant but this Spanish handmade back bar was salvaged and repurposed in the renovation. It was won by the owner's son on a hunting trip in the 1940s.
Eischen's isn't your typical bar. It's more of a family-friendly restaurant that serves delicious food and has some great beer options. The vibe is casual and upbeat and you'll find guests that have been eating here their whole life.
The bar is located right next to the dining room and offers counter seating for about a dozen guests.
People come to Eischen's for really one thing...the fried chicken. It's pretty much perfect in every way.
The menu only has eight food items and that includes the side okra. They offer a whole fried chicken that comes with pickles and onions, and it's hard not to eat it all yourself. I know I could!
Other menu items include cheese or chili nachos and Frito pie. The menu is simple but as mentioned before, the fried chicken is what people travel across the state for...it won't disappoint.
To view the full menu and check out their hours of operation, visit Eischen's Bar website or follow Eischen's Facebook page. And if you've never been, make visiting the oldest bar in Oklahoma part of your bucket list this year.
