Medicine Park is a charming small town in southern Oklahoma where things are a bit slower and more laid back. This town has a gorgeous creek that runs right through the middle of it and that creek is really the center of the town. In fact, it's named after this majestic creek. The town was founded in 1908 by an Oklahoma State Senator who quickly turned it into a resort town. If you've never had the pleasure of visiting Medicine Park, you're missing out on one of Oklahoma's hidden gems.
Medicine Creek runs right through the town and is now one of the more popular swimming holes in Oklahoma. It's the perfect backdrop to such a charming town.
Medicine Creek is the anchor of the town and this is what a normal summer day looks like in Medicine Park. The creek cuts right through the middle of the town so you can usually find lovely water views from most places in town.
Swimming and great views are not the only reason visitors like to come down here...the food is also top-notch. Be sure and stop by Bootleggers if you are in town for delicious sandwiches, pizza, and ice-cold beer.
The local food trucks and eateries offer some tasty food items, like these homemade waffles that are off-the-charts delicious.
If you are a little more adventurous, then we suggest you hit the close-by trails in the Wichita Mountains. Or, you can always take a leisurely stroll around town on the path that follows the creek.
Be sure to take a look at these unique vacation rentals in Medicine Park, OK before your trip!
