1. Pinehurst

2. Blowing Rock
For those looking to retire in the mountains, Blowing Rock is a great option. There are a number of retirement communities; some gated, some with golf courses. The town is fairly small and easily accessible for such mountainside views. You'll live a simple, laid back life here.
3. Bald Head Island
