North Carolina is the sixth most visited state in the US, and I just don't get it. I mean...what is really so great about the Tar Heel state, am I right? Sure, there's plenty to do here, but can't you find that elsewhere? Here are 15 reasons you should just continue to stay in your state - North Carolina has enough people as it is.
1. BBQ? Who eats that?
People actually travel from other states to try this stuff? If that's not enough, there are even TWO separate styles. Yep, nothing to see here.
2. Everyone is completely normal, culture is not diverse at all.
From hipsters to southern debutants - uh, we're all basically the same, y'know.
3. Foliage schmoliage
I mean, the brilliantly beautiful changing leaves are alright. No reason to clog up an entire Parkway that allows you to see some of the best views on the East Coast.
4. Don't you just want to be stuck with either the beaches OR mountains?
Having both within a day's drive is just overwhelming.
5. Just keep saying 'Appalayshun.' Honestly, everything is hard to pronounce here.
That's totally correct! Actually, while you're at it, don't you want to live somewhere with easy-to-pronounce town and place names?
6. Sharks.everywhere.
All those gorgeous, beautiful beaches you want to vacation at? Filled with sharks, just everywhere in the water, people just don't even go in.
7. Food scene is alright, it's ok.
Tying with California for Open Table's Top 100 List? Eh, I'm sure plenty of states do that.
8. Fresh air is overrated.
Some of the best hiking trails in the nation? Gorgeous beaches? Breathtaking views and endless adventure - eh, I'll stay home.
9. Nothing cool comes from North Carolina.
Aviation? Basic. Cheerwine - it's not alcoholic? Krispy Kreme...meh.
10. Sports are a snoozefest
Panthers? So predictable this season! Hockey - it's ok. NBA basketball, like, ok. Lots of places have that. Don't even get me started on a UNC V Duke game.
11. Blue Ridge Mountains, nothing special.
They're literally blue. Just blue. That's it.
12. Same with the Outer Banks.
Wild horses? Uncharted coastline? Amazing fishing? Clear water in the south - yeah, not that great.
13. Living options are limited.
Thriving big cities? Smaller cities with a hometown feel? Quaint small towns? Middle of nowhere? Good luck.
14. Why have all four seasons when you can have two?
Four seasons in full force? A humid hot summer, beautiful fall, mild but sometimes snowy winter, amazing spring....I'll just live somewhere that's winter from October-May.
15. Who really wants to look at this view at the end of each day?
Gross.
See, North Carolina might seem cool but it's just like every other state, nothing special here! What would you add to the list? Share with someone who wants to move here, or wants to MOVE AWAY.
