1. You're ready to explore some of America's best parks.
From Letchworth to Watkins Glen and the Adirondack and Catskill parks, millions of visitors explore these places each year in New York to experience their beauty and adventure for themselves.
2. You love chasing waterfalls.
With so many waterfalls all around New York, this state of ours is an absolute paradise for residents who love finding new falls.
3. You've won a championship title belt for complaining about taxes.
For those of us who are born and raised in New York, we already have it ingrained into our DNA to complain about our state's taxes and the misuse of money, but if you aren't from here you might want to make sure you're prepared to be a full-time complainer.
4. You've got a taste for wine.
One thing you'll quickly learn when moving to New York is that we have quite a few regions that have mastered how to make delicious wine. From the Finger Lakes out to Long Island, be prepared to have your thirst quenched.
5. You've got a serious craving for all four seasons.
While some people may enjoy living in states that feel like it's summer all the time, but not everyone wants to live in the heat! If you happen to be itching for beautiful fall foliage or calm spring days — it's time to move to the Empire State.
6. And you're truly ready to dive into winter.
If you've done nothing but live in the sunshine your entire life and have never seen snow, it may seem like a magical experience from afar. But prepare yourself, the beauty of winter also comes with digging out your car, getting trapped inside your own house, lake-effect storms and other not-so-glamorous stuff. Are you ready to see what winter's really like?
7. You have a love of history.
New York's history is hiding in plain sight all around our state. Our Olympic Ski Jumps in Lake Placid is just one example!
8. You want a little bit of everything.
In New York, we have it all. Here you'll find everything from some of America's coolest small towns and oldest attractions to the country's biggest city and gorgeous mountain ranges.
9. You want to be close to everything.
One of the best parts about living in New York is that no matter what region of our state you call home, you can almost always be to someplace new within a couple of hours. Residents on the eastern half of our state can be to New England and out to the ocean within a couple of hours, while our residents in the north have easy access to an entirely different country and our residents in the west are a hop and a skip away from all our friends in the Great Lakes Region. We're so spoiled!
10. You love the outdoors.
Living in New York feels like the entire state is your playground. With amazing mountain ranges to climb, treetop adventures, thousands of lakes, and stunning trails to explore, this is one state in the Northeast that's perfect for explorers.
11. You want to have exciting events right in your backyard.
Remember when we said how you'll be just a hop and a skip away from everything when you live here? That applies to exciting events as well! Did you know that the country's oldest state fair is held here in New York?
