1. Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Las Cruces
This 168-bed facility employs 625 health care professionals across 35 medical specialties. The average ER wait time is 31 minutes. Healthgrove gives this hospital a ranking of 88/100, making it, objectively, the best hospital in New Mexico.
2. Plains Regional Medical Center, Clovis
This hospital, which is a Presbyterian facility, is one of only 20 hospitals in the nation to receive the Top Improver Award from Press Ganey. It offers 106 beds. Healthgrove gives it an 88/100 as well, but second place on its list.
3. Lovelace Women’s Hospital, Albuquerque
Lovelace Women’s Hospital has received two Women’s Choice Awards – one for patient safety and another for breast health. Healthgrove rates it 87/100.
4. Presbyterian Hospital, Albuquerque
This 453-bed acute care hospital earned the number one spot according to U.S. News and World Report’s rankings. Healthgrove takes this into account and awarded the hospital 86/100. Another rating group – Healthgrades – puts it in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide. It is known for excellence in orthopedic surgery, joint replacement, and stroke care. Whichever ranking system you use, Presbyterian is clearly the best hospital in Albuquerque.
5. Carlsbad Medical Center, Carlsbad
This hospital has 115 beds. It has a good reputation for treating heart failure, pneumonia, and for surgical care. Healthgrove awards it 82/100.
6. Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, Roswell
This 162-bed hospital employs 150 healthcare professionals. Healthgrove gave it 73/100.
7. Memorial Medical Center, Las Cruces
This hospital has a good reputation for heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia care. Healthgrove awards it 73/100.
8. UNM Hospitals, Albuquerque
This teaching hospital is the only certified stroke center in the state. There are also no other Level 1 Trauma Centers in New Mexico! Healthgrove gives this facility 72/100.
9. Lovelace Medical Center, Albuquerque
This facility has a good reputation for treating strokes. It made Becker Hospital Review’s List of 100 Hospitals with Great Neurosurgery and Spine Programs and earned 72/100 from Healthgrove.
