I keep telling everyone that New Jersey is the best state in the country; finally I have some data to back it up! I know we're not perfect (taxes, cost of living) but when compared to the rest of the United States, we can hold our own. Here's how we stack up.
1. According to U.S. News and World Report, New Jersey ranks as the 6th safest state in the nation for teen drivers.
2. New Jersey is the 5th best state for teachers, mostly due to top scores in "work environment."
3. According to WalletHub, our schools rank 3rd in the nation based on safety and academic performance.
4. We also have the highest 8th grade and high school graduation rates in the nation.
5. We're the 19th safest state. Not too bad considering our dense population and big cities.
6. According to WalletHub, we are the 3rd thinnest state in the nation. We also have the lowest number of obese children.
7. New Jersey ranks fourth highest nationwide in dollars spent on the arts.
8. According to several studies, including the State Integrity Investigation, New Jersey is the least corrupt state. According to the Wall Street Journal, those studies are way off base. What do you think?
9. As the Garden State, it's no surprise we rank 3rd in the nation for cranberry and bell pepper production.
10. Niche ranked New Jersey as the #1 state to raise a family based on safety, school systems, library quality and access to daycare.
I'm feeling pretty proud to be from Jersey, what about you? What else do you think we rank high in? Do any of these statistics surprise you?
