If I told you that New Jersey drivers were some of the best in the country, would you believe it? Many states would disagree, but the proof is in the statistics. A car insurance comparison website ranked safe driving by state, and New Jersey came in at #7. The rankings are based on statistics by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, so you know it's true- New Jersey drivers are some of the best in the nation.
New Jersey has one of the lowest fatality rates per 100 million miles traveled. We also have a low number of failures to obey and speeding violations when compared to other states. It seems we're more likely to follow traffic signals and seat belt laws than drivers in other states, too. The New Jersey scenic byways must inspire these good driving skills! Unfortunately, our drunk driving violations keep us out of the top spot, which went to Minnesota. Also in the top three were Ohio and Vermont. New Jersey drivers did, however, beat out our neighbors on the list of the best drivers - New York, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

New Jersey drivers are the butt of one too many driving jokes, and it turns out that we're some of the best drivers in the US. Go ahead, correct those who make fun of us! Drivers in New Jersey deserve a little glory. Are you surprised by the results of the study? Let me know in the comments.
