As the 9th state in the United States of America, New Hampshire is about as old as our country gets. This historical footage of the late 1940s in New Hampshire is an interesting look into the past. Can you recognize your state still? There have been so many changes, in some areas we might have lost the shapes of this state to time and industry. Time to take a blast from the past into 1947 New Hampshire.
Well over 50 years ago, 1947 was a turning point in many states and industries. How different could a few decades be, though? It turns out, quite a lot of differences have come through our state since those days.
The way things are done here and across the states has changed, but so many little pieces seem to call to something familiar. Do you recognize the outfits you see here?
New Hampshire has always been about industry, whether that means making shoes or fishing. Hard workers are just part of who we are.
In the 40s, times were simpler and life was much more direct. Though we've changed in many ways, the spirit of who New Hampshire is has never left.
Industry and artisan products will always be here, but on a much smaller scale since we don't produce everything in America anymore. This little trip back in time has been a treat, and pinpointing what has changed is always a fun activity.
You can watch the entire footage with narration from PeriscopeFilm on YouTube. The longer you've lived here, the more sights you'll recognize in the video. They do mispronounce a few places, but that's to be expected sometimes.
It's simply stunning how different and beautiful that these things have changed.
