We live in a beautiful country, and every single state has its charms. But the title of "best state" should obviously go to Montana. Here are just 10 of the many reasons why:
1. Lots of space.
Montana is very sparsely populated for its size. We like it that way. It’s not that Montanans aren’t friendly to others, we just really appreciate having our space.
2. The food.
You might not think a state without any huge cities would have a very diverse food scene, but you’d be wrong. You’ll find delicious restaurant options and tempting bakeries all over the state, and our markets are full of fresh local produce and locally raised meat.(Unfortunately, Sir Scott's Oasis, pictured above, has permanently closed.)
3. Glacier National Park tops basically any other natural wonder in the country.
I mean, come on.
4. So does Flathead Lake.
Our lakes are gorgeous, especially Flathead Lake.
5. You’ll experience all four seasons, and they’re all beautiful.
6. No other state has as many different species of mammals.
You don’t have to go to Zoo Montana to see wild animals (though it’s certainly worth visiting). From moose and elk to mountain goats, bison and bears, you’ll find a wide variety of wildlife in Montana with plenty of places to see them.
7. Montana is an outdoor sportsman’s (and woman’s) paradise.
Whether it’s hunting for elk or fishing for trout, outdoor sports enthusiasts flock to Montana every year. And we aren’t wasteful—you’ll find a lot of wild game on our restaurant menus.
8. Montana has plenty of two very important things: books and breweries.
We have the most bookstores per capita in the US, and we’re one of the top states for breweries. Montanans are both literate and laid back.
9. Montana has a fascinating history and it has been well documented.
Tales from the Gold Rush, museums, well-preserved ghost towns and the Dinosaur Trail tell the story of our amazing state history.
10. Because even celebrities love it.
David Letterman, Michael Keaton, Tom Brokaw and Andie MacDowell are just a few of the celebrities who have homes in Montana. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel got engaged here, and Dennis Quaid got married here (at least once). When you have the money and status of a celebrity and can go anywhere you choose and you pick Montana, that says something about the state.
Montana, you're the best.
