I don't know why anyone would ever want to leave Missouri, but sometimes life takes you away for a job, a loved one, or something out of your control. Here are some of the things you might miss if you leave...
1. The seasons and foliage.
If you move to a desert climate, for example, you often miss the changing seasons, and Missouri definitely marks each season distinctively.
2. The many amazing state parks.
Any of Missouri's 52 state parks are well worth a trip. Pictured is Bennett Spring State Park dam near Lebanon.
3. Toasted or fried ravioli.
If you are a lover of this Missouri-based appetizer, you may miss being able to find it everywhere (or anywhere).
4. Kansas City-style barbecue.
Sure, you can get BBQ pretty much anywhere in the country, but is it Kansas City Barbecue? I think not.
5. Amish Country.
Missouri has the 7th largest population of Amish in the country, and has experienced a huge increase in new settlements in the last 15 years, with orders migrating from other states. The Amish population is growing and can be found in small orders sprinkled around the state.
6. All the beautiful farms and country roads.
Missouri is a very rural state and there are miles upon miles of open land. Definitely something to miss!
7. Our home teams.
The Royals, The Cardinals, The Rams...no matter your team, there's nothing like living in the city where your team is. When you move, it's harder to keep loyalties or see games.
8. Lakes and rivers and float trips.
Some of the best waterways in the country for float trips are in Missouri.
9. The people.
Missouri has some of the most friendly, inviting people, and things move a little slower here than in some other parts of the country.
10. The familiarity of your home town.
There's no place like home.
11. The absolute best hiking in the country.

12. The variety of scenery.
Whether you want to see a city scene, a serene countryside, or a rambling river, there are no limits to the different and interesting things to see in Missouri.
13. St. Louis-style pizza.
The St. Louis-style pizza features a cheese called provel that you just don't find outside of Missouri.
14. Small town charm and history.
Sprinkled throughout the state are several quaint, historic, and friendly small towns. The ability to take a weekend trip to any number of interesting destinations is awesome.
15. The most amazing sunrises...
16. ...and beautiful sunsets.
17. The abundance of farmer's markets.
With farmland and farmers comes local farmer's markets, places to get the freshest, locally grown food.
18. Ted Drewes Frozen Custard.
If you've had it...you know.
19. The relatively low cost of living.
This house is actually about the same cost as a one bedroom apartment in New York City.
