Wow how things have changed since the '80s. In the '80s in St. Louis we played outside until the street lights came on and rode our bikes without helmets! Here are nine more things you'll remember from the '80s:
1. Frogger
Wow! Who remembers Frogger? Atari came out in 1977, and Frogger in 1981. Looking at this picture of Frogger is almost shocking. Remember how simplified our video games were? No head sets, no internet gaming with the world. No complex games with missions and teams comprised of people you've never met. What a different world video gaming is today!
2. The Admiral Casino
Who remembers gambling on the Admiral? Did you know it was moved to Columbia, Illinois in 2011 and dismantled and sold for scrap?
3. Mississippi Nights
How about the great music of Mississippi Nights? What a great club with awesome live music!
4. Showbiz Pizza
Who didn't love Showbiz Pizza and their lifelike robot animal band? Ummmm....
5. The Old Busch Stadium
How many people watched a game at the old Busch Stadium?
6. Checkerdome
It was a sad day for St. Louis when the Checkerdome was imploded!
7. National Supermarkets
Remember when National Supermarkets were everywhere?
8. Our beloved St. Louis Steamers.
The Steamers were our Major Indoor Soccer Team In St. Louis from 1979-1988.
9. Remember when they used to pump the gas for us?
And it was only 95 cents a gallon!
I wouldn't trade my childhood for any amount of money! We used our imagination, respected adults, got plenty of exercise, and video games, mobile phones, and tablets did not exist.
