Only those of us who have lived in Mississippi for an extended period of time can explain what it’s really like living here. Other states have spring, summer, winter, and fall. But in Mississippi, we have summer, hunting season, football season, and hurricane season.

The animals in Mississippi seem to be just as friendly as the people, so don’t be surprised if a rodent, reptile, or some other wild animal drops in for a quick visit.

Mississippi gas stations serve some of the best food ever. Trust us.
10. Meeting someone new usually leads to a church invite.
Religion plays a huge role in the lives of many residents, so don’t be surprised if a new acquaintance asks you to attend church with them.
11. You must be fluent in small talk if you’re going to make it in Mississippi.
In a state known for its friendly residents, you can expect stop for a quick chat just about everywhere you go.
12. Temptation is everywhere.
Between the perfectly fried seafood, comfort food, and the variety of local specialties, dieting is basically impossible here.
